Description

Originally written for a 4 1/3 octave marimba, Three Movements For A Solo Dancer, can be readily adapted to a 5 octave marimba as well. In the second and third movements, the player sometimes has to strike the frame of the marimba simultaneously while playing with the left hand. If utilising a 5 octave marimba, these passages can either be player ne octave lower or the performer can mount a small percussion instrument (e.g. woodblock, “jam” block, etc) on a stand over, or on, the marimba. Imagine a dancer, clacking with his shoes on the floor.
