Construction
The tar is an ancient, single-headed frame drum. Traditionally these drums are covered with a goat skin head. They come in a variety of sizes - from 10 inches to 18 inches in diameter. Modern synthetic headed drums have a cut-out frame so the hand can more easily muffle the head.
History
It is commonly played in the Middle East and North Africa. It is usually used to accompany music and dancing.
Technique
Players need to struck the tar with hands.[1]
