Tambourin Chinois is one of Fritz Kreisler's most famous works for violin. This arrangement was done by George Hamilton Green for xylophone and piano. Tambourin Chinois has become one of the standards in solo xylophone literature over the years due to its speed and technical nature. This is a two-mallet solo that requires some quickly moving hands to play the rapid licks, and it's much more difficult to perform legato rolled melodies on this instrument than many professionals make it look. This solo makes much more use of the pentatonic scale than most popular music of this era, which really drove home the Asian influence at the time.
