Program Notes

Sonatina is a piece combining classical elements with non-traditional harmony and modes. The three-movement work uses a slow introduction and sonata form for the first movement, a theme and variations for the second, and a scherzo for the closing movement. It uses the lydian-mixolydian mode throughout the work, but the listener can still hear echoes of traditional harmony between each section.
