Description
Rain Dance by Alice Gomez & Marilyn Rife is one of the most popular study pieces for young marimbists. It focuses on basic stroke types and Right Hand vs. Left Hand coordination. Its groovy, repetetive minor tonality makes it popular and easily accessible to younger students. Once they've gotten the coordination under control (in both 4/4 and 6/8), students will find that this piece comes into the hands fairly easily - with the exception of a few particularly challenging passages. The center of this piece features a short, straightforward chorale with some large range stretches in the right hand.
