Frank Siekmann has been active as a musician, composer/arranger from his early days at high school in Staten Island, NY through his "retired" years in Kutztown, PA. During these decades he has written a wide variety of music, both vocal and instrumental, in many styles and at various levels. Many of these are represented on his website.  His education in music includes a BS and MA from NYU and the Ed.D from Columbia University.  Starting off with 15 years teaching in public schools, he moved to a one-year replacement position as Director of Bands at the University of Vermont, followed by 24 years at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania where he taught and directed a variety of courses and genres and also served as Chairman of the Music Department.  His music is widely performed and his commissions include those from various universities and members of major symphonies. Most notably among his works is his "Concerto for Bass Trombone", written at the request of Charles Vernon during his time with the Philadelphia Orchestra (now with the Chicago Symphony). The Concerto is frequently performed at doctoral recitals, auditions, and at concerts in the USA and abroad.  Dr. Siekmann is pleased to include da Capo Brass among the ensembles performing his music.<ref>http://www.dacapobrass.com/frank-siekmann</ref>
