Louis Raymond-Kolker is an active composer, percussionist, and educator from Austin, Texas. Louis’s primary focus is creating new repertoire for steelpan, as well as teaching and performing on the instrument. As a performer, he has played with South East Steel Orchestra in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Inside Out Steelband in Austin, and with school steel bands throughout his academic career. As a steelpan soloist, he has commissioned and premiered several works for pan, and was the 2015 winner of the A&M-Commerce instrumental concerto competition. As an educator, he has instructed Pan2 and Panimation steelbands at A&M-Commerce, and has been a faculty member for the Inside Out Steelband Camp. Louis has also received significant training in the realm of classical percussion, earning a B.M. from A&M-Commerce in 2017, and is currently working towards an M.M. at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was a semi-finalist in the Great Plains International Marimba Competition in 2014 and 2015, and in the Southern California International Marimba Competition in 2014, and played drumset in the front ensemble of The Guardians DBC in 2015.
