Description

The composition "Pulsar" was commissioned by the 2023 Open Dutch Percussion Championships as the required piece in the basic tuning class. In about ten minutes, this piece recounts the billions-of-years-long development of a star. Ultimately, the star explodes, creating a pulsar: a pulsating, ticking sound that can be detected by radio signals on Earth. This ticking sound served as the starting point for the composition.
