Review

William Cahn and Robert Becker are currently publishing over 30 marimba ensembles, most of which are actually xylophone solos with marimba accompaniment. The arrangements are almost all scored for two marimbas with two players on each, and xylophone. FLUFFY RUFFLES is a bright tune is an allegro vivo 2/4 throughout. In addition to the solo part, there are four separate marimba parts (for two marimbas) plus a piano accompaniment part. All parts are very clear and fold open to avoid page turns. - Michael Combs, October 1980^[1]

-Add to the catalog of literature attributable to George Hamilton Green, that undisputed giant of the xylophone, this gem arranged by William Cahn for xylophone solo accompanied by a marimba quartet. The marimba parts have been scored so that all four players can be accommodated by only two instruments—-a 4-octave and 4 1/3-octave marimba. Although the xylophone part does feature a florid obligato part in one section, it is written largely in a lyrical vein with double-stops used freely. This solo part places less emphasis on sticking dexterity and the technical demands that are characteristic of the xylophone rags.
