My initial reaction to this piece is that it uses a very large number of instruments for such a short piece. This is obviously not a valid aesthetic criterion but as a private teacher in a large university, I know my students would find it virtually impossible to set up such a piece. If they could set up such a large collection of instruments I would prefer them to spend the time on a piece with greater musical substance. Nonetheless, for those with appropriate facilities and instruments (xylo, bells, 5 definite pitched nipple gons, 5 Roto-toms) this could be a charming and rather flashy encore or closer.
