Program Notes
Dream-Awakening and Dance is Gordon Stout's third work for marimba orchestra, written as a commission for the Celebrate Musser Festival in 2015. This piece features two marimba soloists and a large ensemble of marimbas.
The texture is varied, including both tutti and soli sections, giving each member an opportunity to play an important role in the texture of the piece as a whole. The composition is in something of a concerto grosso style, reflected by the soloists, and is an engaging work for an audience to enjoy.
