Description
Anders Koppel's Concerto No.1 for Marimba and Orchestra is a wonderful composition that shows off the virtuosity of the marimbist in a way that is clearly melodic, flashy, and very appealing to audiences and concerto competition judging panels. The third movement, often played alone, is the jewel of this piece - it's lighthearted, playful, and very quick. A great deal of slow, methodic practice will be necessary to nail the scales and arpeggios that flash by. It is a set piece for the final round of the International Percussion Competition for Marimba Solo in Luxembourg same year.
