Program Notes
Sonata for Multi-Percussion is a series of events which design different landscapes located in the future. Different colours in the piece guide you through an imaginary plot written by personal thoughts and memories.
The piece brings the performer and the listener in another dimension made of tension and uncertain release, especially confirmed in the end, where the performer arrives to the extreme, confirming once again, this particular state of mind in the most powerful way.
Performance Notes
Sounds are the core of the piece, keep special attention in finding instruments which resonate perfectly between each other. For the beginning, find a note in which the cymbals resonate more, in bar 6 play around that. The timpano range is divided in five steps (you can find them in the last line of page two). Bar 2 is the main ‘theme’ of the piece, make it groovy. In bar 13 take your time to raise the tension. In bar 14 bring yourself to the extreme, especially in the last repetition before the end, keeping it as much as you can. During practice go above your limits every time.
