Program Notes
Aurora Polaris (in Dutch, "polar lights") is a composition for percussion ensemble, symbolizing the color development of the northern lights. The composition begins with a chorale, which continues throughout the piece. The dark sky, filled with bright stars, is filled with the warm and rich colors of Aurora Polaris throughout the composition. Eventually, the light loses its color, leaving only the bright stars in the dark sky.
