Ryan Laney writes music designed to be interesting for both the casual listener and the true musician, offering compositions with high audience appeal. Ryan’s compositional output is primarily focused on percussion solo and ensemble literature with a growing number of works for wind instruments. His compositions and arrangements can be heard performed around the world in countries including Brazil, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Mexico, Thailand, Italy, Japan, China, South Korea, Belgium, Russia, and across the USA. Ryan taught 5-12th grade Band classes in Boulder Valley School District from 2012-2021, and currently serves as Publications Database Specialist for [[Alfred Music]]. Ryan's greatest musical inspirations come from artists including Rush, Nobuo Uematsu, Gustav Holst, W.A. Mozart, John Philip Sousa, Koji Kondo, Dream Theater, John Williams, David Maslanka, David Wise, and Daft Punk.
