Instrumentation
Players 1 & 2 (Small Drums): These should be some combination of bongos, timbales, and/or very small tom-toms.
Players 3 & 4 (Wood Instruments): Rhese should be chosen from wood blocks, temple blocks, and/or log drum.
Players 5 & 6 (Metal Instruments): recommended choices include cowbells, almglocken, metal plates, even inexpensive non-stick cookware.
Players 7 & 8 (Large Drums): These may include larger tom-toms, tenor drum, congas, small bass drum.
Description
This work for eight percussionists is designed to be performed with whatever unpitched instruments are available, with many possibilities. Choices of instruments: the eight players each choose three instruments (low, medium, high). Within each pair of players, for example Small Drums 1 & 2, the first should choose generally higher-pitched instruments than the second, but some overlap between the two is expected.
