Robert Kogan’s compositions have been performed at Carnegie Recital Hall, St. Paul’s Chapel, The Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College and at venues in the New York Metropolitan area and beyond.  He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Criterion Foundation.  In September 2025 he presented a concert of his chamber works at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn, NY.

Robert has a master’s degree in music composition from Brooklyn College, where he studied with Robert Starer and Jacob Druckman. He also studied with Hall Overton and Leon Kirchner.

Robert was founding conductor of the Staten Island Symphony, which he conducted for 17 years and was also Conductor of the Philharmonic Symphony of Westchester.  He was winner of the Salzburg Conducting Prize. He has also been active as a cellist performing in many New York orchestras and as a member of the Bridge Trio, the Staten Island Chamber Music Players, and Downtown Music Productions.
