WAT Nga-man, Wyman is a composer and conductor based in Hong Kong. At the Spotlight on Young Musicians Series 3 Concert – Cross coordinated by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2012, Wyman premiered works including Mosaic, Bonfire Light, Earth Beat, Ripples on a Lotus Pond, and was considered a great success. As a composer and a flutist, Wyman is active in promoting contemporary music and creative music making. Her work Wind Infinity (2013) for solo flute was selected to be performed by herself in the Chinese Composers’ Festival 2013. In recent times, Wyman was commissioned by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild to compose three new works: Space Tight (2016), Silent Sorrow (2016) and Street in the Dark (2017) which were in SOUND-IMAGination concert series, and were broadcasted by RTHK Radio 4. During her study at the HKAPA, Wyman received prizes and scholarships including HKAUW Thomas H. C. Cheung Postgraduate Scholarship, The Lions & Joseph Koo Music Foundation Composition Scholarship, The Society of APA Scholarship and Parsons – Outstanding Composition Student for Wind Music. Apart from her active composing and performing career, Wyman now devotes more concentration on conducting and music composition education. She is currently serving as the music director and conductor in The Open University of Hong Kong Orchestra.
