==Description==

[[Portico]] by [[Tom Gauger]] is among the earliest percussion ensembles to fall into the 'percussion orchestra' subgenre, utilizing mainly melodic percussion instruments supplemented with effects and non-pitched instruments. This piece travels through a number of different moods, with solo moments for every player. The rhythms and phrases aren't terribly complex, but it can be very challenging for 10 percussionists to play absolutely together. This piece has aged very well, and is a crowd-pleaser.
