Lazar Nikolov (Aug 26, 1922, Bourgas - Feb 7 2005, Sofia) graduated from the Pancho Vladigerov State Academy of Music in 1946. He studied piano and composition with Prof. Pancho Vladigerov and Prof. Dimitar Nenov. He has worked at the Bulgarian National Radio and Krastio Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Art. L. Nikolov is Professor at the Pancho Vladigerov State Academy of Music. He was President of the Union of Bulgarian Composers (1994 - 1999). His works have been performed in many European countries, USA, etc. and have been recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio, Balkanton Records and radio stations abroad. L. Nikolov has been awarded by the Union of Bulgarian Composers and the International Academy of Arts. His works are of great significance for the contemporary Bulgarian music in the last 50 years.[1]
