Program Notes

Concerto for Percussion is Makiko Kinoshita's second work for percussion ensemble. In the Trembling Moon, Makiko Kinoshita minimized percussive character which is supposed to be a main feature of a work for percussion instruments, but pursued the world stratified sound produced by three vibraphones with long reverberation and a supportive marimba. In this work, Makiko Kinoshita intended to produce the resonant sound again and also incorporate percussive factors to establish an ensemble world full of dynamism and variation.

The work is composed for a main stage of a concert, Works of Makiko Kinoshita 3 - Chamber Music Evening , on 26th September, 2008. Since the concert was held independently, Makiko Kinoshita wasn't subject to any restraint. Makiko Kinoshita just thought about producing a work with a high degree of perfection using instrumentation at her disposal.
