			Sävellettyäni teokseni etsin sen sisältöä vastaavaa nimeä. Äkkiä mieleeni tuli nimi Solfatara ja muistin hetken, jolloin itse seisoin Solfatara-kraaterin reunalla Napolin lähellä. Tuntui kuin olisin ollut suorassa kosketuksessa maan sisuksissa piileviin suunnattomiin voimiin, jotka voivat aiheuttaa räjähdyksiä ja kaiken tuhoavaa hävitystä. Maan päällä oleva näennäinen hiljaisuus ja maan alta kuuluva uhkaava murina muodostavat ladatun voimakentän, jossa hiljaisuus kilpistyy raivoavien elementtien purkauksiin. Ihmisen sisällä olevat dualistiset voimat käyvät ikuista kaksintaisteluaan. Solfatara symbolisoi tätä taistelua.

			Sedan jag komponerat mitt verk för altsaxofon och slagverk sökte jag ett namn som skulle motsvara innehållet. Plötsligt kom mig Solfatara i tankarna och jag kom ihåg den gång när jag stod vid randen av kratern till denna gamla utslocknade vulkan väster om Neapel. Det var som om man haft en direkt förbindelse med jordens innandöme, med de enorma krafterna som kan utlösa explosion och förödande ödeläggelse. Den skenbara tystnaden ovan jord och det hotfulla mullrandet därunder skapar ett komprimerat kraftfält, där stillheten bryter sig mot de rasande elementens eruptioner. Så utkämpar också de dualistiska krafterna inom människan sitt envig. Solfatara får symbolisera denna kamp.
