			Born in Paris on 19 February 1954 son of Gisèle Casadesus and Lucien Pascal, actor

			He won the first Prize for percussion at the Conservatoire of Paris in 1978 and the Prize for composition at the Lili Boulanger Foundation in 1979. He divides his musical life between his activities as an instrumentalist, as a teacher and as a composer.

			Timpanist at the Colonne Orchestra, he teaches percussion, chamber-music and musical education in various conservatoires of the Parisian region. He has written many musical compositions for the theater, the ballet, the cinema, the radio and television.

			He is the author of the "Maximilien Kolbe" opera, with a libretto by Eugène Ionesco, which was highly successful at Rimini in Italie (1988), in France at the cathedral of Arras (1989), as well as in Poland Austria and Sicily (1990 and 1991).

			Rewarded several times by the "Institut de France", the "Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques" (SACD) and the "Académie Nationale du Disque Lyrique", Dominique Probst is "Chevalier des Arts et Lettres".

			Henri Dutilleux and Herbie Hancok are some of the personalities that have had a great impact on him.
