=== Review ===
Etude in a Latin Style is a percussion ensemble piece scored for seven players. The instruments required include guiro, claves, cowbell, triangle, timbales, drumset and two timpani. The piece begins with the guiro playing a soft, repetitive pattern for four measures. A new instrument is added every four measures, each playing a repetitive rhythm, until the entire ensemble is playing together. The rest of the piece features various exchanges between the timbales, drumset and timpani, with the other instruments providing accompaniment patterns in a Latin style. There is much dynamic contrast, which would be very important to the success of the work. While Etude in a Latin Style is composed according to an old formula that has been used many times in other pieces of this type (probably because it works so well), it is well-written and would be an effective teaching piece for a young percussion ensemble. - Tom Morgan<ref>http://www.pas.org/resources/research/research-compositions</ref>
