			Eric Bryce was born in Boorowa, a small town in south-west New South Wales in 1932. He studied music at the Sydney Conservatorium and subsequently obtained his B.Mus at Adelaide University.

			In 1958 he was appointed music teacher at Norwood Boys Technical High School. Eric was the first to use jazz and popular music elements in the classroom and helped pioneer instrumental classroom music ensembles and music curricula within the South Australian Education Department. In 1967 he became the first senior master of music in the S.A. Educ. Dept. and in 1975 was appointed lecturer of music at Salisbury C.A.E. In 1983 he was appointed a senior lecturer and in the 1988 June Queen's Birthday Honours list was awarded an AM for his services to music education in South Australia.

			Eric's parallel professional composing, arranging and playing career began in 1970 when he was invited to write and perform on a regular basis for the Adelaide ABC Mike Kenny 30 piece orchestra. Hewas commissioned to write music for a great variety of musicians and musical organisations including jazz celebrities Don Burrows, James Morrison and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The commissions included, Crosswinds - an orchestral suite with jazz rhythm section and a concerto for marimba/xylophone. Both these works have been performed by the ASO.

			His vast experience in composing music for school, university and professional instrumental and vocal ensembles led to many interesting projects. His works are not atonal, his harmonic and melodic influences are from the romantic, impressionist and modal writers.

			In 1989 Eric and his artist/poet wife Simone returned to NSW and settled in Mt Kembla.
