If one deals with old school works for timpani, one can get the impression that in earlier times it was simply accepted that people had a "strong" and a "weak" hand. It is probably thanks to the American rudimentary drum school, among other things, that the left hand was generally able to emancipate itself as a drummer in the 20th century and was accordingly increasingly used on an equal footing. <br />

And yet it is of course still the case that each of us has a slightly more skilled, faster, stronger and therefore favored hand, not only in everyday life but also when timpani. And the other hand is in most cases the left hand.<br />

The present 13 etudes offer an aid to compensate for this. They should only be played with the left hand. Of course, left-handers can also use the whole thing for their right hand.
